When a new console rolls around, it’s not only exciting because you get to have a new shiny piece of tech to use, but you also get to look at a whole new range of accessories.
Whilst the range of cases from Nintendo is limited to just one, Aussie brand Powerwave had over 30-40 accessories at launch, all which are extremely affordable and providing something for everyone whether you want a hard case, or a screen protector, or a hard shell or something a little slimmer and here’s our thoughts on each of the main items in the range at launch.
POWERWAVE CARRY CASE
This is the one I’d absolutely recommend to all Switch owners. Starting at just $25, it’s a great value for money case that provides great protection and there’s also enough room in there for the Switch 2 if your using an external case like the crystal case below.
It fits 30 Nintendo Switch 1/2 cards which I’d almost say it’s the most I’ve ever seen in a case, and there’s also a mesh pocket which you can fit the Joy-Con straps and even a Joy-Con or two in there.

POWERWAVE STARTER PACK
If you like the idea of the Carry Case but want to take it a bit further, the Powerwave Starter Pack is incredible value for money at just $69.
It includes the Carry Case in addition to a Tempered Glass Screen Protector with an alignment tray that makes it super easy to put on. It has a blue light filter and will keep your console screen from getting scratched.
It also has a cleaning cloth to keep your screen clean, and it has a compact dual charging dock which can keep two Joy-Con 2 controllers charged with them magnetically connecting in order to stay charged with an LED indicator to let you know when it’s finished charging. This can either stand on an angle or lay flat.

POWERWAVE CRYSTAL CASE
This is one I wasn’t expecting to love anywhere near as much as I did, but at $19 it’s an absolute steal. It comes in five parts with the main part slipping over the back of the Nintendo Switch 2 and keeping it protected without adding a heap of weight or thickness.
It’s worth mentioning that it does struggle to go into the dock (but this will hopefully be rectified shortly). It allows for full movement of the kickstand and all of the necessary ports.
There’s also front and back clear bits for the Joy-Con 2 controllers, with the front ones being for protection, but it’s the back ones that I was really impressed with as they add a needed thickness to the Joy-Con 2 controllers and make them a lot more ergonomic and comfortable for longer play sessions.

POWERWAVE SILICON GRIPS
Similarly, this is one that I wasn’t expecting to love, but for $9 they not only add a great pop of colour to the Joy-Con controllers (if you opt for neon over black), but they also have padding built into the back of the silicon grips which makes the Joy-Con controllers a lot more comfortable to hold either on their own or when they’re connected to the Nintendo Switch 2.

POWERWAVE SLIM SOFT TRAVEL CASE
For those that want a thinner case and aren’t super worried about having a hard case for ultimate protection, the Slim Soft Travel Case is great for popping in the Nintendo Switch 2 and chucking it in your bag. I got through most of the last generation with a soft case as the Switch (and I assume the Switch 2) are super study, so if you want ultimate portability, this is the one for you, and it comes with a little strap to hold it as well.
