Daniel Baker asks: Will you be doing game reviews of every new PS5 game? q120

As of right now, we only talk about Astro’s Playroom and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. You can find our review for those HERE. We’ll definitely have more PS5 reviews next week and in the weeks ahead.

Jackson Gardner asks: Can you confirm for 1440p on the PS5? 224g5a

As of right now (and we have no reason to believe this will change) the PS5 does not have native 1440p . Just with the PS4 Pro, you can only choose 1080p or 4K.

Ashley Price asks: What’s the exact PS5 storage capacity and how does the create button work? 6z4ra

The PS5 comes with 667GB of usable storage (a further 10GB or so of that is taken up by Astro’s Playroom). As for the Create button, you can choose to record in either 4K or 1080p in either WEBM or MP4 format, you can choose to turn HDR on or off, choose to include your microphone audio or party audio, and this is all just from the Control Centre. You can also set your console to always be recording up to the most recent hour of gameplay, which you can then edit in Share Factory so that it’s always there for when you’re wanting to save something that’s just happened.

Trevor Campbell asks: Tested it with a capture card? 6o3h2h

Yep, we have a 4K Avermedia capture card and it worked just fine recording in 4K/60FPS.

Derek Ryan asks: How does the Primary/Main console work on the PS5? 4u3f3b

It works in exactly the same way as the PS4, except your PS4s won’t be affected. It’s now called “Console Sharing and Offline Play”. You can still basically have one PS5 as your Primary PS5, which can play games and media without being connected to the internet. You’ll then be able to play the game in other s on that PS5. All other subsequent PS5s will be needed to be connected to the internet (and only one at a time).

Anthony Nobles-Banks asks: IS the HDMI cable HDMI 2.1? 152e1d

Yes, we can now confirm that we have tested the PS5 with an HDMI 2.1. capable TV and it is an HDMI 2.1 cable.

Christine Devine asks: Will I need internet right away to get it all going? 1a2m3c

There will be a day one update, and you will need to perform it in order to access network features and get your saves across, etc, so you’ll be able to play games without updating, but it’s highly recommended that you do.

Jason Damianopulos asks: Is there a menu to adjust game/ chat mix for audio like the PS4 was? Also any confirmation on if headsets that used optical before to split this, will they still be able to do it via the USB connection? 1l131r

Yes, there is a new chat/game audio mix dial. As far as I can tell game/chat audio will not split with a USB connection, so you won’t be able to use the game/chat audio slider on a headset for instance. The on-system one works really well though.

Adam Haidle asks: Can you just plug your external HDD straight from PS4 to PS5 and the games work without any messing around? 6j1m1b

Essentially, yep. It’s recognised instantly and you can play your games straight away. The saves might be an issue, but you can just grab them from the cloud.

Braden Dawson asks: Have we heard anything from Sony regarding the storage of PS5 games on an external drive? 6sc2m

You cannot store PS5 games on an external hard drive at all. It doesn’t allow it.

@ductts23 asks: Can we parties and play with friends on PS4? 4x706u

You can! You can chat through the new app to someone that’s on the PS5 too. The DualSense controller has a microphone and a speaker so you don’t even need a headset.

@valkian24 asks: How quick is the loading on backwards compatible titles? 4u544i

It’s definitely a lot quicker most of the time. Here’s a couple of comparisons:

  • Days Gone took 40 seconds to load into the game on PS5 (1 minute, 40 seconds on PS4) and 20 seconds to load into a save (40 seconds on PS4)
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales took roughly less than 3 seconds to load into my save on PS5 (18 seconds on PS4)
  • Ghost of Tsushima took 26 seconds to load into the game on PS5 (44 seconds on PS4) and 4 seconds to fast travel (7 seconds on PS4)

@AlexyVex asks: Is it noisy? Like in comparison to the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro? 39f41

It’s super quiet. I’ve literally not heard it making a noise since I turned it on.

AshJ asks: When you put the PS5 into rest mode does the light turn orange like the PS4? 4j311r

Yes, it does. It’s super cool.

John Matrix asks: Does it have a game switch feature (quick resume)? 1ws5m

It does and it doesn’t. It does have a switcher to let you see your last few games that you’ve played easily, but it’s not like quick resume. Instead, Sony has incorporated a new Activities feature which you can read about HERE.
