Warner Bros. Games has officially acquired Player First Games, the developer of its moderately-successful free-to-play platform fighter, MultiVersus.
According to official statements, the studio’s co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White will continue to lead the studio.
“Our team is excited to the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall,” Huynh said in a press release. “We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
WB Games’ president David Haddad has added, “We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”
The game enters its second season since this week, after releasing in full a couple of months ago, and will bring with it new characters like Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice.
MultiVersus Season 2 will also introduces the game’s Ranked Mode, which will allow players to face off in 1v1 or 2v2 matches with leaderboards and a new stream of points with which to unlock exclusive new cosmetics based on rank, including Gold, Diamond and Master Skins. And in additionally-exciting news, the iconic Warner Brothers Water Tower is finally coming to the party as a stage in Season 2, and it actually looks pretty schmick based on this reveal image from the MultiVersus official :

In his early impressions of MultiVersus’ second coming, James wrote, “There is great potential to continually build the roster up with a diverse and eclectic cast of characters from a wide range of properties spanning a literal century. The sky really does feel like the limit, but with this relaunch, MultiVersus is doing a good job of convincing me that they might reach it.”
