One particular GameStop store has played the role of inadvertent villain for several customers’ Nintendo Switch 2 launch days, accidentally damaging the screens of several units after stapling receipts to the box.
The issue was an isolated event, taking place at a single location only, and replacements are already being arranged for the affected customers.
Although stapling receipts to the packaging of hardware seems an unusual practice, the console’s position within the packaging itself couldn’t have helped matters. Immediately under the top flap of the console’s packaging is the unit itself, and, in my case, it was lying face up, so it seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
Thankfully, GameStop has done the right thing by its customers, going so far as to suggest it has confiscated its staplers, which, if nothing else, is a good excuse for an Office Space gag.
